Ericeira to Sintra by Bike - Atlantic Coast

As the sun kissed the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, I embarked on an exhilarating cycling adventure from Ericeira to Sintra along the stunning Atlantic coast.

This journey encapsulated the essence of Portugal's coastal beauty, weaving through charming villages, past pristine beaches, and offering breathtaking vistas at every turn.

Starting from Ericeira, a picturesque fishing village steeped in history and tradition, I found myself immersed in the tranquil ambiance of cobblestone streets and whitewashed buildings. The scent of freshly caught seafood lingered in the air as I pedaled through the quaint alleys, exploring hidden corners adorned with colorful fishing boats and cozy cafes.

Leaving Ericeira behind, I ventured onto the rugged coastal trail, where the Atlantic Ocean stretched out before me in all its majestic glory.

The trail meandered along towering cliffs and secluded coves, each bend revealing a new panoramic view that left me in awe of nature's grandeur.

I couldn't resist the temptation to pause frequently, soaking in the serenity of the surroundings and capturing the beauty with every click of my camera.

As I pedaled onward, the trail led me to a series of pristine beaches, their golden sands beckoning invitingly under the warm Portuguese sun.

From the lively Pescadores beach (Ericeira) to Sintra, we passed through Praia do Sul, Foz do Lizandro, São Julião, Magoito, Maçãs, among many more unknown ones, each one had its own unique charm, offering the perfect place to rest, swim and enjoy the ambient tranquility.

The highlight of the journey was undoubtedly the approach to Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage site nestled amidst lush forests and rolling hills.

As I ascended towards the town, the silhouette of the iconic Pena Palace emerged on the horizon, its vibrant colors standing out against the verdant backdrop. Sintra itself was a feast for the senses, with its narrow cobblestone streets lined with pastel-hued buildings, charming cafes, and artisan shops.

Exploring Sintra's historic center, I couldn't help but marvel at the architectural marvels that adorned every corner, from the medieval Moorish Castle to the whimsical Quinta da Regaleira.

Each sight was a testament to the town's rich history and cultural heritage, transporting me back in time to a bygone era of kings and queens.

As the day drew to a close, I reflected on the incredible journey I had undertaken, from the quaint shores of Ericeira to the majestic hills of Sintra.

It was a cycling adventure filled with unforgettable experiences, breathtaking scenery, and moments of pure bliss—a journey that will forever hold a special place in my heart.
